The funeral of Otton Hodas

On Monday 29 January, a secular farewell ceremony for Otton Hodas was held at Rakowicki Cemetery. The long-serving president of Nadwiślan Kraków, who died at the age of 88, was mourned by his family, friends, colleagues, representatives of the Małopolska Football Association and the Kraków city authorities.

Otton Hodas had earlier been head of the Kraków Chamber of Crafts and president of Juvenia Kraków. Born in 1935, he was involved in sport from a young age. As a boy he played football at Wisła Kraków, and he remained a Wisła supporter to the very end.
Janusz Kozioł, adviser to the Mayor of Kraków on sport, gave a farewell address, and Krzysztof Kowalski, a member of the Nadwiślan board, recalled how much Hodas had done for the club he led for more than 30 years. Colour parties from Nadwiślan and the Małopolska Football Association accompanied the club's long-serving president to the Avenue of the Distinguished on ul. Prandoty. Canoeists representing the club paid tribute by raising their paddles over the urn.
“You will rest beside Janusz Filipiak, president of Cracovia, and beside the president of the Małopolska Football Association, your friend Ryszard Niemiec. Close by lies one of Wisła’s most spirited players, Adam Musiał”, observed Marcin Kruk, who led the ceremony.
Otton Hodas died on 18 January 2024. We thank the family for their trust.
